Pro Tools 101

This course covers basic Pro Tools principals. It provides everything you need to complete a Pro Tools project – from initial set up to final mixdown. The course focuses on Pro Tools software and covers a multitude of new functions and feature enhancements. Wheter your project involves recording live instruments, MIDI sequencing of software synthesizers, or audio editing or region looping, this course will give you the basic skills to succeed.

This course is designed for the audio enthusiast with little to no Pro Tools experience.

Pro Tools 110

This course provides a more detailed look at the Pro Tools system above and beyond the knowledge you gained in the Pro Tools 101 course. It covers all the key concepts and skills needed to operate a Pro Tools system at the user level. This course, along with Pro Tools 101: An Introduction to Pro Tools, provides the foundation to Pro Tools User Certification and for the later 200-series of courses on Pro Tools music and post production.

MC 101 Media Composer Editing Essentials

This course is the first step in achieving confidence, creativity, and efficiency with Avid Media Composer 6, the non-linear film/video editing application used in most movie and television productions. Along with its counterpart, (MC 110) MEDIA COMPOSER 6: PART 2–EFFECTS ESSENTIALS, this course provides the foundation for Media Composer User Certification.

This course leads you through the interface and basic editing techniques before moving on to trimming, fine-tuning the edit, adjusting audio, handling multicamera editing, adding transitions, adding titles, and outputting your finished project. The training is hands-on and features project-based lessons in which you work on real-world projects ranging from extreme sports and dazzling documentary footage to an episode of the television show Hell’s Kitchen. This course is the first step in mastering Avid Media Composer 6, the standard editing system used by professionals in the film and television industries.

MC 110 Media Composer Effects Essentials

This course is for video editors who understand the basics of the editing tools in Media Composer and are ready to move ahead and learn the fundamentals of creating effects within Avid Media Composer 6, the non-linear film/video editing application used in most movie and television productions. This course provides a solid foundation in Media Composer audio and video effects capabilities and, in conjunction with MC101 Editing Essentials course, will prepare you for Avid’s User Level certification in Media Composer 6. You will be taken through the basic effects-building interface; then, using a real-world, hands-on approach, you’ll learn fundamental audio adjustments and effects, multilayered video compositing, tracking, stabilization, various retiming methods, and basic color-grading techniques. This course is a crucial step in mastering Avid Media Composer, the standard editing system used by professionals in the film and television industries.

MC 201 Media Composer Professional Picture and Sound Editing

Media Composer Professional Picture and Sound Editing will give you the skills and in-depth, under-the-hood knowledge you need to distinguish yourself as a true editing professional and go for the high-profile jobs you want. With the step-by-step guidance in this course, you’ll learn the skills you need to work on big-budget productions: media management (become the media management guru others look to for expert advice), advanced picture editing (learn precision cutting techniques and how to master Script Integration for long-form projects), and advanced sound editing (learn to impress your producer by creating great audio mixes). The student guide includes media and projects that you can work with at your own pace after the class is over.This course, along with its counterpart Media Composer Professional Effects and Compositing, will prepare you for Media Composer 7 Professional certification

MC 205 Media Composer Professional Effects and Compositing

Media Composer Professional Effects and Compositing teaches film and video editors about the full range of effects available in Media Composer. Along with its counterpart, Media Composer Professional Picture and Sound Editing, this course provides the foundation for Media Composer Professional Certification through an Avid Learning Partner.

In this thorough course, you’ll go far beyond the basics and learn how to apply, design, and build your own effects; how to make full use of all of Media Composer’s effects nesting techniques; how to composite various elements using different types of keys; and how to animate effects using keyframes and the motion tracker. Media Composer is a powerful tool, the standard editing system used by professionals in the film and television industries.
