Qualified individuals must have a minimum of 5 years professional experience. DFA instructors are required to hold a NY State Education Department teaching license through BPSS (Bureau of Proprietary School Supervision). You may obtain your teaching license after your application is submitted.

Instructor – Video Editing with Avid Media Composer
Expertise required:
- Advanced video editing techniques
- Sound editing and visual effects
- Strong understanding of post-production process
- Fluency with Avid Media Composer
- Experience editing wide variety of projects
Instructor – Cinematography Level 1
Expertise required:
- Operation of DSLR camera equipment
- Visual storytelling
- Variety of shooting and lighting techniques
- Understanding of how lighting impacts the tone of a film
- understanding of the role of the cinematographer on set
Instructor – Cinematography Level 2
Expertise required:
- Operation of RED Cinema camera equipment
- Understanding of highest end cinema technology
- Visual storytelling
- Variety of shooting and lighting techniques
- Understanding of how lighting impacts the tone of a film
- Understanding of the role of the cinematographer on set
Instructor – New Media Technologies
Expertise required:
- Operation of RED Cinema camera equipment, workflow, file formats, etc.
- Understanding of highest end cinema technology
Instructor – Digital Imaging Technician
Expertise required:
- Experience working as DIT in collaboration with cinematographer
- Understanding of DIT workflow, file backup, camera settings, signal integrity and image manipulation
- Achieving the highest image quality and creative goals of cinematography in the digital realm
Instructor – Steadicam Operation
Expertise required:
- Experience with Steadicam and other stabilizer mounts for motion picture cameras
- Mechanically isolate the operator’s movement, allowing for a smooth shot, even when the camera moves over an irregular surface
- Fluency with Steadicam operation and various techniques
